Women’s World Cup first opponent Colombia crashes out of trial after 20 minutes

The South Korean women’s national team’s first opponent at the FIFA Confederations Cup Australia-New Zealand 2023, Colombia, played so roughly that their opponents had to stop the game.

The closed-door friendly between Colombia and Ireland at Mickin Park Stadium in Brisbane, Australia, on 15 September (local time) was abandoned after just 20 minutes of play. “It became so intense that after discussions with officials, it was decided to end the game,” the Irish Football Association said in a statement, according to Reuters.

Colin Bell’s side face Colombia on 25 May at 11am local time, followed by Morocco on 30 May and Germany on 3 June.
