BYD
introduced super fast charging technology in Indonesia which is claimed to be able to significantly reduce battery charging time. Will this system called BYD Megawatt Charging be released domestically?
This technology was born for the first time in China through a new platform developed by BYD, namely Super e-Platform.
The Super e-Platform offers a high voltage vehicle architecture, even reaching 1,000 volts. The use of this platform allows BYD electric cars to have super fast charging of up to 1 megawatt, aka 1,000 kW.

In his presentation, if a BYD electric car uses this platform, then when the battery is charged for five minutes, it can make the car go 400 km.

Not to mention, this platform is equipped with an electric motor with a rotation of 30 thousand rpm which is capable of taking the car up to 300 km per hour.
Luther Panjaitan, Head of Public and Government Relations at BYD Motor Indonesia, explained that so far this technology is still in the introductory stage.
“Yes, we have only just started introducing megawatt charging in China. And globally, it is more about familiarization that the prospects for technological development, especially in charging, have reached that point,” said Luther at Gaikindo Jakarta Auto Week (GJAW) 2025, ICE BSD Tangerang, recently.
Through this technology, he said that his party wanted to answer concerns regarding the waiting time for charging electric vehicle batteries, which is one of the issues that is widely discussed by the public.
Will BYD apply this technology to electric cars sold in Indonesia?Luther said this required in-depth preparation.
“Then to bring it to Indonesia there are several things that we have to prepare. Especially in the infrastructure in Indonesia, both vehicles are ready to accept charging like that,” he said.
“But that is as usual, this technology is very dynamic, very fast. Now it is not impossible that in the near future we can also bring it,” he added.
