Typhoon ‘Kanun’ landed, KBO League also ‘hit hard’…Jamsil+Suwon+Incheon+Gwangju canceled → only Gocheok proceeds

Four KBO games were canceled after Typhoon Kanun made landfall on the Korean Peninsula.

The Korea Baseball Organization (KBO) announced on Tuesday that the Samsung Lions-Dusan Bears (Jamsil), Hanwha Eagles-KT Wiz (Suwon), and NC Dinos-SSG Landers (Incheon) games of the 2023 Shinhan Bank SOL KBO League have been canceled due to rain.

For the LG Twins-KIA Tigers matchup scheduled for Gwangju-KIA Champions Field, the rain has eased off, but there was still too much rain and the ground conditions were not ideal. Eventually, the decision to cancel the game was announced at around 4:40 p.m. due to concerns about player injuries.

온라인바카라 Typhoon Kanun, which made landfall in Geoje City, Gyeongsangnam-do earlier in the day, is currently passing through Mungyeong City, Gyeongsangbuk-do, and is expected to make its way to the Seoul metropolitan area via Chungcheong Province. Although the typhoon’s strength has weakened from what was feared, it is still a medium-sized typhoon and we must remain vigilant. It’s been raining and winding all day, and with rain forecast for the next 11 days, it’s difficult to play a normal game.

David Buchanan and Kim Dong-joo were scheduled to start the game at Jamsil Baseball Stadium in Seoul, but Samsung and Doosan had to settle for a point apiece. On the road, Samsung travels to Incheon to prepare for a three-game series against SSG, while Doosan travels to Daejeon for a three-game series against Hanwha.

In Suwon, ‘Super Rookie’ Kim Seo-hyun was set to make his starting debut, but due to rain, he will have to wait until next time. Riding a three-game winning streak, KT wrapped up a three-game midweek series with the Winning Series, giving their bullpen a chance to catch their breath.

Lee Yong-jun and Park Jong-hoon, who were scheduled to go head-to-head in the Winning Series, also had their starts postponed. The fourth-place NC travels to Suwon to take on third-place KT in a three-game weekend series. Depending on the outcome of the three-game weekend series, the leaderboard could change.

Only one game of the three-game series in Gwangju was played due to rain, with Lee Ji-gang and Yoon Young-cheol unable to take the mound. Having played 90 games, the fewest in the league, KIA will likely have to shoulder the burden of the remaining games after September.

The games that were canceled due to rain or ground conditions will be rescheduled at a later date, with only the rain-free Gocheok Sky Dome in Seoul being played as normal.

The Lotte Giants and Kiwoom Heroes, who split their games on the eighth and ninth, will attempt to win the best-of-three series, with Han Hyun-hee and Chung Chan-heon starting for each team. Kiwoom, who are in a slump with 1 win and 9 losses in their last 10 games, need a win more than ever as they will drop to the bottom of the standings if they lose today’s game.
