“Congratulations to TGRI for its proud conclusion at the local touring racing event. The many championship trophies that were won with TGRI over the last 2 years have made other racers also use this Sporty Hatchback in national touring racing events,” said Marketing Director of PT Toyota-Astra Motor (TAM) Jap Ernando Demily in a written statement, Tuesday (16/12).
The ITCR 1200 National Championship is a prestigious class which is attended by around 24 racers from factory and privateer teams.Toyota noted an increase in the participation of privateer racers driving the All New Agya Stylix in touring racing events this year.Attendance increased significantly from only 4 cars from 2 racing teams last year, to 17 cars from 6 different racing teams this year.
Entering the race, Amato Rudolph and Jordan Johan immediately fought for the leading position as soon as the 5th ITCR 1200 Series National Championship race started, Saturday (13/12).In an exciting battle for 12 laps, Jordan finally finished in 3rd place seeded B and Amato followed him in 4th place.
Sunday (14/12), the situation became increasingly challenging because from qualifying in the morning until the race took place, it rained at the Mandalika Circuit.Heavy rain made the qualifying round exciting and challenging. In this situation, Jordan managed to get the 3rd starting grid seeded B, followed by Amato in 4th position.
Because it was still raining, the start of the 2nd race was carried out with a safety car escort until the 3rd lap.
In the last 3 laps, Amato managed to overtake several of his class rivals and finished in first place in Seeded B of the ITCR 1200 National Championship, followed by Jordan who finished second in the same class.
This Sporty Hatchback swept the first, second and third place podiums after Romy Tahrizi from the GR Garage Auto2000 Racing Team also took third place.
“This year’s competition is very tight because other rivals continue to develop,” said TGRI racer Amato Rudolph.
“Congratulations on the achievements achieved by TGRI at the ITCR 1200 National Championship this year. Toyota is committed to continuing to support national and international motorsport activities as a means of developing local talent and Toyota vehicles,” concluded TAM Marketing Director Hiroyuki Oide.
