Electricity in Indonesia reached 82,525 units in January-November 2025, an increase of 113 percent from the same period last year.So what

According to distribution data to dealers or wholesalers from the Association of Indonesian Automotive Industries (Gaikindo), BYD still leads the country’s electric car market with several flagship models, starting from the Atto 1 to the premium sub brand Denza D9.

BYD Atto 1 as a newcomer immediately received the title of best-selling electric car in the country.Since its introduction at the 2025 Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS), this electric city car has sold 17,729 units.
BYD M6 follows in second place with sales of 9,926 units, followed by BYD Sealion 7 with 7,719 units, and Denza D9 which has sold 7,176 units so far this year.

Another model from BYD, Atto 3, also appears to be on the list of the 10 best-selling electric cars in 2025 with sales of 2,556 units.
Other brands also took part to fill the standings, such as Chery J6, Jaecoo J5, Wuling, GAC Aion, and Geely. Meanwhile, a number of big names from Japan, South Korea and even Europe did not make the top 10 list.
10 best-selling electric cars January-November 2025:

Gaikindo also recorded extraordinary growth in another electrification segment, namely plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEV) from January to November 2025.
In this data, distribution of PHEV cars in Indonesia jumped 3,217 percent to 4,312 units from January to November 2025. This figure increased drastically compared to sales in the same period last year, with sales recorded at 130 units.
Positive achievements were also recorded in hybrid car sales, although the increase in demand was not as high as for BEVs or PHEVs.
According to data, demand for hybrid cars only rose six percent to 57,311 units, whereas 11 months last year it was 53,986 units.
