Many people suspect that one of Pertamina’s products, namely
Pertalite
is a fuel with ethanol content.
This is a big question mark, especially since many cases of motorbike problems have emerged in the East Java region after consumers used this type of fuel.In the midst of these concerns, this state-owned operator has provided an answer by ensuring that Pertalite does not contain ethanol in it.
But on the one hand, fuel mixed with ethanol is nothing new for Pertamina.

Since 2023, Pertamina has released a new gasoline called Pertamax Green.This fuel is made by Pertamina using Pertamax and a mixture of 5 percent ethanol from sugar cane molasses or is a biofuel with a mix of renewable energy.

This combination makes Pertamax Green’s RON level higher to 95, while Pertamax is 92.
This gasoline is also suitable for cars with Euro 4 engines, because apart from RON 95, the maximum sulfur content is 50 ppm.Now, the price of Pertamax Green is IDR 13,500 per liter.
Pertalite denies that it contains ethanol and water
The case of a Pertalite consumer experiencing a breakdown on a motorbike in East Java has become a hot topic of conversation in recent times.Not a few of them have to take their motorbikes to the repair shop.
Apart from ethanol, the public also suspects that Pertalite contains water, but this is also denied by Pertamina.
President Director of Pertamina Patra Niaga Mars Ega Legowo Putra confirmed that there was no mixture of ethanol or water in Pertalite.
“Does Pertalite currently contain ethanol? It doesn’t contain ethanol,” said Ega, quoting detik, Friday (7/11).
Ega emphasized that the public also does not need to worry about the rumors circulating while emphasizing that the fuel with RON 90 has no ethanol mixture.
Pertamina has also carried out a series of tests regarding water content, and the results were not found at all.
“We also checked with visual clarity standards and color clarity of BBM to indicate whether there were contaminants in the product. So far we have found no indication of this,” said Ega.
