The Latest Honda Vario 125 is different, it doesn’t use an eSAF frame

The latest covers a lot of ground, but not the chassis.This facelift model still uses the old frame in the form of a pipe frame (tubular) so it is different from its brothers which use the Enhanced Smart Architecture Frame (
eSAF
).
The eSAF frame has been widely used on Honda scooters in Indonesia since 2019 on the Genio, then Beat, Scoopy to Vario 160.
ESAF, which is produced by pressing and then welded using a laser, is claimed to be able to reduce weight and save fuel.However, in recent times eSAF has been highlighted by many people due to cases of rust and breakage.

Hikaru Yokomura, Vario 125 Large Project Leader, Honda R&D Southeast Asia Co., Ltd, said that the pipe frame embedding was based on the needs of the Vario 125.
“The frame used is not eSAF, we use a pipe frame. Why we use a pipe frame is because it is tailored to the engine’s needs, one package,” said Hikaru in Cikarang, West Java, Tuesday (2/12).
He said there were several parts that were designed to be lighter so that the overall weight of the Vario 125 was reduced by 300 grams.For example, on the CVT cover, the radiator dimensions are smaller.
With reduced weight, he believes users will get better control.
It’s not just the chassis that survives, the Vario 125’s engine is also the same as before, namely 125 cc liquid-cooled with eSP technology which can produce 11.1 PS at 8,500 rpm and 10.8 Nm of torque at 5,000 rpm.
Honda claims, this machine is capable of producing fuel consumption of up to 51.7 km per liter.
“If you look at the unit weight of the motorbike compared to the current one, in total there is a decrease of 300 grams,” he said.
“Of course, this decrease can be felt directly when riding on a test ride later,” said Hikaru again.
