plans to build a new factory by collaborating with the Ministry of National Development Planning/Bappenas together with the Industrial Area Association (HKI), as a follow-up to acceleration

To make this happen, the parties made a memorandum of understanding (MoU), which is also aimed at strengthening planning for priority industrial areas in the National Medium Term Development Plan (RPJMN) 2025-2029.
Minister of National Development Planning/Head of Bappenas Rachmat Pambudy emphasized that Indonesia is entering a new phase in realizing the independence of the automotive industry and highlighted the importance of industrial areas, supply chains, integrated technology development, and forming a national industry with high competitiveness.

Rachmat added that this is the first step to develop environmentally friendly industrial areas, domestic automotive supply chains, and advanced manufacturing technology.

“This collaboration is expected to open up opportunities for Indonesia to achieve independence in the automotive industry so that it becomes a world-class industry,” said Rachmat.
Meanwhile, Pindad Main Director Sigit P. Santosa said that the national car project should not stop at slogans.
This factory is planned to be built on industrial land in Subang and the target is to be able to produce 500 thousand units per year, starting with 100 thousand units in 2028 as the initial phase of production.
