Vacationing using a private car is the choice of many people because it is more flexible and comfortable. However, during the rainy season, traveling by car requires extra preparation.Unpredictable weather conditions, slippery roads and limited visibility can increase the risk of accidents if not properly anticipated.
The Ministry of Transportation (Kemenhub) itself projects that out of 119.5 million Indonesians, they will travel during the year-end holiday period and 43 percent of them or 51.1 million people will use private cars.

1. Check the condition of the tires
Air pressure: Make sure it is within the manufacturer’s recommendations and measure with standard tools. Then check the TWI (Tire Wear Indicator) indicator. If the groove touches the 1.6 mm protrusion, the tire must be replaced.
Also check the physical condition of the tires.Avoid using tires that are cracked, torn or have bumps.Make sure the spare tire or tire repair kit is ready for use and ideally the spare tire pressure should be ±5 psi.
Don’t forget about spooring and balancing every 8,000-10,000 km or if the steering wheel vibrates or pulls to one side. This step will help support a more stable vehicle speed, make the tires last longer and make the driver more comfortable.
2. Be alert during the rainy season
Avoid puddles to prevent hydroplaning.
Then reduce speed and maintain a safe distance of at least 3 seconds and 4-5 seconds when it rains. Also make sure the wipers are functioning properly and the washer fluid is filled.
3. Pay attention to the vehicle load
Don’t exceed the carrying capacity, then adjust the air pressure if carrying a full load.
4. Check the condition of the driver
Only drive when your body is fit and well rested. If you feel tired or sleepy, you should rest to prevent unwanted things.
While traveling avoid sudden maneuvers, aggressive braking and excessive acceleration.
During the Christmas period, Bridgestone Indonesia also presents the Tire Check Service (TCS) program in areas frequently visited by motorists for the year-end holidays.
For example, at the Cikampek KM 57 Toll Rest Area, Bridgestone Indonesia, Toyota Astra Motor, and the Paramita Ban Model Shop (TOMO) partner network are presenting TCS starting December 24 2025 to January 3 2026.
The TCS program includes checking tire condition, remaining tire height and air pressure.Apart from that, tire replacement, balancing and nitrogen filling services are also available.Specifically for purchasing tires, you will get merchandise and special year-end discounts with applicable terms and conditions.
