Prabowo, during a speech at the Plenary Cabinet Session held at the State Palace, Jakarta, on October 20, said that the government had started the initial steps to produce a national car made in Indonesia in the next three years, meaning 2028.
Apart from that, Prabowo also said that the allocation of funds for factory land had been prepared. The development team is said to have prepared this.
Apart from the government, it is thought that involvement in the national car project will also come from other parties, namely Indonesian Military Technology (TMI), which once exhibited an electric car concept model called i2C at the 2025 Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS).
“i2C is an SUV type electric vehicle developed by PT TMI, for the civilian version as part of an assignment,” said TM representative Verly Joshua, Thursday (6/11).
He revealed that Pindad has military vehicles that can be converted into ‘civilian’ products such as Hummer products as part of the national car project.
