Motors still relies heavily on the Pajero Sport in the medium SUV segment in Indonesia even though many competitors have emerged.
This model has been around since 2009, then the second generation was launched in 2016. Since then, the SUV with a ladder frame base has not undergone an overhaul with all new status, except for minor changes.
The main rival of the Toyota Fortuner is available in two engine choices.In the Dakar variant, this SUV is equipped with a 2,442 cc 4N15 engine with Euro 4 diesel turbo intercooler and 4-cylinder configuration.

The power produced by this engine reaches 181 PS with a peak torque of 430 Nm.The engine can provide strong and responsive acceleration, ideal for off-road terrain and long distance travel.
Meanwhile, the Exceed and GLX variants use an engine coded 4D56.

This engine has a capacity of 2,477 cc with a Euro 4 turbo intercooler diesel, also with a 4-cylinder configuration.The power produced is smaller, namely 136 PS with a maximum torque of 324 Nm.
For manufacturers, this engine is designed to provide a balance between performance and fuel efficiency, or is suitable for everyday use.
Apart from the engine, the Pajero Sport is also equipped with a number of features to support the safety and security of the driver and passengers while traveling.
These features include 7 airbags, Electric Parking Brake with Brake Assist (EPB with BA), Hill Descent Control, Multi Around Monitor, Adaptive Cruise Control, Forward Collision Mitigation System, Blind Spot Warning, Ultrasonic Mis-acceleration Mitigation System, Lane Change Assist, Read Cross Traffic Alert, and Tire pressure Monitoring System.
As an SUV, this car also has off-road capabilities because it is equipped with four off-road modes, namely Gravel, Mud/Snow, Sand and Rock.These four modes allow the driver to adjust the vehicle’s traction capabilities according to the road surface on which they are traveling.
Pajero Sport sales 2025
Even though it hasn’t undergone a major overhaul in recent years, the Pajero Sport is still the company’s mainstay.This is proven by sales of this model during the last 10 months of 2025.
According to data from the Association of Indonesian Automotive Industries (Gaikindo), wholesales or distribution from factories to Pajero Sport dealers reached 8,125 units.
Irwan Kuncoro, Marketing Director of Mitsubishi Motors Krama Yudha Sales Indonesia (MMKSI) believes that the Pajero Sport is a model that is sought after by many Indonesian consumers, especially the middle class.
“Pajero Sport is still a favorite,” said Irwan at Gaikindo Jakarta Auto Week (GJAW) 2025, ICE BSD Tangerang, recently.
According to Irwan, the public’s high interest in the Pajero Sport is also proven after the car received a number of awards in recent years, through the Car Of The Year nomination.
Currently, the Pajero Sport is being sold with a price tag ranging from IDR 577.7 million to IDR 779.65 million.
At GJAW 2025, interested visitors will also have the opportunity to see the modified form of the Pajero Sport.
This car has been adapted to the “Exploring and Excitement” theme.There are many modifications, including a roof rack, over fenders, 18 inch rims with all terrain tires and a bicycle rack attached to the back.
Not only that, in the interior there are changes in the audio sector, e-mirror with DVR to support entertainment during trips to off-road places.
