Many people have the habit of documenting traffic accident victims on the highway and then distributing it to instant chat groups or social media. However, can this be done?
Kendal Police Traffic Unit Gakkum Head Ipda Heru Andriantoro asked people who still have this kind of behavior to stop their habit.Apart from being unethical, this habit also hinders the process of treating victims.

Heru assesses that the act of photographing victims is often done without the intention of helping, but only needs content, which is then shared on social media or conversation groups.
This condition often hurts the feelings of the victim’s family because they found out about the incident from other people’s posts.

“Moreover, those who took the photos were only to share them on social media (social media) or their respective WA groups and did not provide assistance,” he said, citing the official Korlantas Polri website, Thursday (11/12).
He said society should prioritize empathy by providing appropriate assistance, not making victims into objects of documentation.According to him, if they want to help the law enforcement process, the public can take photos of all the vehicles involved in the accident.
“Don’t take photos of the victims. If you want to help, take photos of all the vehicles involved, so that if someone runs away and is irresponsible, the documentation will make it easier for us to trace them,” said Heru.
Heru explained that vehicle documentation is much more useful for the investigation process, especially in hit-and-run cases.By providing clear visual evidence, officers can more easily trace irresponsible parties.
“That way, we can immediately reveal the parties involved in the accident, including the hit-and-run case,” said Heru.
Heru hopes that people will become more aware of the importance of orderly traffic and respect for accident victims. He believes that small changes in the attitudes of road users will have a big impact on collective safety.
“With joint discipline, I am sure that the number of traffic accidents will be reduced so that order and comfort will be created for all,” he said.
