President Director

Motor Indonesia Juhun Lee revealed that he is preparing a new hybrid car model to challenge the Toyota Veloz Hybrid which was just launched at the 2025 Gaikindo Jakarta Auto Week (GJAW).
“So please wait, hybrid MPV B is being prepared,” said Lee, Friday (21/11).
MPV Segment B or often also called Low MPV is a fat segment in the country which is filled with many popular models such as the Toyota Avanza, Toyota Veloz, Suzuki Ertiga and Mitsubishi Xpander.Hyundai has entered this segment with the Stargazer since its launch in 2022.

Lee did not explain the launch schedule for Hyundai’s new hybrid model, but explained that it would not be next year.
“It took us time to prepare a hybrid engine and we will bring it to the next generation Stargazer. And we are also preparing a hybrid model for the Creta,” said Lee.

According to him, Hyundai needs time to develop a cheap hybrid model because so far the company has focused on hybrids in the upper segment such as the Palisade, Santa Fe and Tucson. As an illustration, the Tucson currently costs IDR 652 million.
“Under the Tucson we don’t have a hybrid and our main markets are in the United States and Europe,” Lee said.
But now Lee says Hyundai wants to make a hybrid system for large markets like ASEAN, especially in Indonesia.
“We launched Stargazer here as
world premiere
and if we have a hybrid MPV B, Indonesia will be the first,” said Lee.
