Chery
disbursing investment funds to set up factories in Indonesia is back in the spotlight.The latest news is that the automotive company from China is planning to make this happen by acquiring a partner factory in Indonesia, namely Handal Indonesia Motor (HIM).
Handal confirmed that there was discussion about buying the factory by Chery in discussions some time ago.
Jongkie D Sugiarto, Deputy Main Commissioner of HIM, said that the two parties had met to discuss deeper cooperation in Indonesia.

“It’s still being discussed, so there are several options and they cannot be conveyed,” said Jongkie.
Chery and Handal are known to have collaborated since the brand started its automotive business several years ago in Indonesia.The collaboration includes the assembly process for all Chery group cars marketed domestically.
If the acquisition does occur, Chery will fully operate production facilities in Handal.
For your information, this plan emerged after the Minister of Industry, Agus Gumiwang, visited Chery’s headquarters in China some time ago.
Agus said, Chery will disburse investment funds of IDR 5.2 trillion until 2030.
Budi Darmawan, Marketing Director of Chery Sales Indonesia (CSI) previously stated that the disbursement of funds would be used to strengthen production facilities in Handal.
Meanwhile Zeng Shuo, President Director of Chery Group Indonesia, said this investment will be carried out in stages starting in 2025 to increase production capacity.
