Electric car sales
battery-based products in Indonesia grew significantly from January to November with wholesales or the number of distribution from factories to dealers reaching 82,525 units.The increase compared to the same period last year reached 113 percent.
According to data from the Association of Indonesian Automotive Industries (Gaikindo), distribution of battery-based electric cars for 11 months last year was only 38,677 units.On the other hand, the results until November 2025 are also much higher than the distribution of electric cars for the full year in 2024, with a total of 43,188 units.
Apart from that, Gaikindo also recorded extraordinary growth in another electrification segment, namely plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEV) from January to November 2025.

In this data, the distribution of PHEV cars in Indonesia jumped 3,217 percent to 4,312 units, whereas in 11 months 2024 there were only 130 units, while January-December 2024 only increased to 136 units.

Positive achievements were also recorded for hybrid cars, although the increase in demand was not as high as for BEVs or PHEVs.
According to data, demand for hybrid cars only rose six percent to 57,311 units, whereas 11 months last year it was 53,986 units.Then the distribution of hybrid cars in 2024 will reach 59,903 units.
On the other hand, conventional cars in the LCGC category experienced a decline, because distribution to dealers fell 31 percent to 112,151 units as of November, while the previous year it was 162,320 units.
Market shrinkage was also recorded for other conventional cars outside the LCGC program for the same period by 15 percent, from 530,804 units to 453,785 units.
It can be concluded that the decline in the market for conventional cars has been largely eroded by the availability of ‘cheap electric cars’ being sold by manufacturers.
