The National Police Traffic Corps (Korlantas) launched
BPKB
digital or e-BPKB to make motor vehicle registration easier and difficult to counterfeit.
The National Police emphasized that the physical Motor Vehicle Owner’s Book (BPKB) is still valid and remains valid even though there is a digital BPKB or e-BPKB.This was conveyed amidst growing public concern that the physical BPKB that has been used so far is not valid.
“The physical BPKB that the public already owns remains valid and remains valid. Sumardji emphasized that e-BPKB is not present as a full replacement for physical BPKB, but as a service improvement by adding better security and making it easier for people to have digital data and validate BPKB using a device.

Digital documents have the same legal force, but are safer because they are stored in an integrated system and are difficult to forge.Apart from that, vehicle data can also be verified quickly and accurately.
He admitted that uneven digital literacy was a challenge so that some people were hesitant to accept electronic documents.
Therefore, the Traffic Corps Directorate continues to expand education through BPKB service units, Samsat, dealers, leasing, automotive communities, and social media.
This outreach was carried out to ensure the public understands that e-BPKB is a modern innovation, while physical BPKB is still valid.
With continuous education, the National Police Traffic Corps Directorate is optimistic that public acceptance of e-BPKB will increase and the vehicle administration process will become safer, modern and integrated.
