BYD Subang Factory Enters Final Stage, Ready to Start in Early 2026

in Indonesia has entered the final stage.This Chinese brand is optimistic that the electric car production house will be ready to operate at least in the first quarter of 2026.
“Meanwhile, we have entered the final stage, and we have received an audit from BKPM (Investment Coordinating Board/Ministry of Investment and Downstreaming),” said Luther T. Panjaitan, Head of Public and Government Relations BYD Motor Indonesia at Gaikindo Jakarta Auto Week (GJAW) 2025 ICE BSD, Friday (21/11).
“We are also now consistently coordinating with the Ministry of Industry,” he said again.

The factory in question is located in Subang, West Java with an investment value of IDR 11.2 trillion.This factory’s production capacity reaches 150 thousand units a year.

“This process starts at the last stage. If it should run smoothly, it will all start in the first quarter of 2026,” said Luther.
So far, Luther has not revealed the first model that will be produced at the factory.
However, he said the presence of the factory would increase the company’s sense of optimism in meeting all the public’s needs for BYD products, rather than carrying out a CBU import scheme from China.
“If we use this method now, we may still have certain conditions that might make it uncertain. If it was based on manufacturing, it would definitely be more certain overall,” said Luther.
Luther added that the decision to locally assemble their products in Indonesia will not change the selling price to be more affordable.
Pricing for all models has been adjusted according to calculations when they had CKD status, even though currently they are still imported in full from China.The products in question include Atto 1, M6, Seal, Atto 3, Dholpin, to Sealion 7.
“Well, this gives customers confidence or confidence in buying BYD either now or later, so I say that (the price) will definitely be the same,” he said.
