Indonesia together with the BYD electric car user community, namely Beyond, held a CSR event in the form of planting mangrove seedlings in the Angke Nature Tourism Park area, Pantai Indah Kapuk, North Jakarta. This activity is expected to contribute to absorbing 10 tons of CO2 every year.
They planted 500 mangrove seedlings, where this number symbolically represents the 500 Beyond members who contributed to this conservation activity.
Mangroves were chosen not only because of their ability to protect coastlines and prevent abrasion, but also because of their effectiveness as natural carbon sinks and important habitats for biodiversity. For them, this is also an effort to control climate change.

Based on estimates, trees planted today have the potential to absorb around 10,000 kilograms or 10 tonnes of CO₂ per year.
“The 500 mangroves that we planted together today are not just a number, but rather a reflection of 500 people who realize that big changes are actually born from simple steps taken together,” said Eagle Zhao, President Director of BYD Motor Indonesia at the location, Sunday (23/11).

“With the potential to absorb around 10 tons of CO₂ per year, we see how big an environmental impact can be created when innovation meets care. This initiative reminds us that the journey towards a greener future can actually start with one step together like today,” he said again.
Furthermore, he said BYD emphasized that this year was an important milestone in the company’s journey on the global stage.
To date, BYD has sold more than 14 million New Energy Vehicles worldwide. This achievement reflects changes in consumer behavior towards cleaner, safer and more efficient technology.
This contribution also encourages a reduction in carbon emissions equivalent to the absorption capacity of more than 1.9 billion trees.
In line with this global growth, he said, in less than two years, BYD managed to achieve an EV market share of 54 percent or more than 37,600 units in the period January to October 2025. This makes BYD and DENZA the main contributors to the growth of the national EV market.
“BYD will not stop here,” he said.
This event is also a celebration of the community’s birthday, which as of November 17 2025 has 2,050 members spread throughout Indonesia. This distribution is considered to show that the Indonesian EV ecosystem has entered a new phase.
“Beyond proves that innovation is not only driven by technology, but also by collaboration and togetherness. Throughout the first year, Beyond played an important role in supporting BYD’s journey in Indonesia,” said Luther Panjaitan, Head of Public and Government Relations at BYD Motor Indonesia.
