Lotte manager Larry Sutton praised “big gun” Lee Jung-geun before the game against NC Sasik on Wednesday.

Lotte Sutton Director “Information roots, nurturing system
“Night and day compared to three years ago”
“Incredible.”

“He hit a home run against Eric Peddy,” Sutton said. He combined well with the starter, Barnes. His command of the game, his pitch mix, everything was good.”

Sutton thought back to three years ago. “Compared to three years ago, it’s like night and day, and I think he’s grown a lot after going through Lotte’s development system,” he said. “He studies a lot on defense, including ball placement, and on offense, he tries to maximize his efforts and take advantage of his strengths.”

Lee hit a two-run home run in the bottom of the fourth inning of the NC game on April 2 to lead the team’s comeback. After leadoff hitter Park Seung-wook reached first on an infield single, Jung lined a 130-kilometer-per-hour curveball from opposing starter Pedi over the left-field fence.

It was his first home run of the season and the second of his career. Lee, who was drafted by Lotte with the 83rd overall pick in the ninth round of the 2018 secondary draft, hit his second home run 369 days after hitting his debut home run for Samsung Electronics on July 29 last year.

“My first home run after my debut was a walk-off home run when the team was winning, and this one was a come-from-behind home run, so it’s even more meaningful and gratifying,” he said after the game.

Lee, who was selected by Lotte with the 83rd overall pick in the ninth round of the second round of the 2018 draft, is batting .323 (10-for-31) with one home run and six RBIs in 30 games this season. He has been criticized for his poor batting compared to his acceptable defense, but this home run has raised hopes for his offense.
