During a visit to the 2025 Gaikindo Jakarta Auto Week (GJAW) exhibition, he saw many petrol cars being sold for Rp. 175 million-Rp. 190 million per unit.
Airlangga’s statement likely refers to the price of affordable and environmentally friendly cars (Low Cost Green Car/LCGC).Currently there are only three manufacturers marketing LCGC, starting from Honda, Toyota and Daihatsu.

According to Airlangga, sales of electric cars will increase significantly during 2025. This means that many people are starting to switch from fuel-based cars.
Based on data up to October 2025, sales of electric cars rose 18.27 percent to 69,146 units compared to the 2024 period.

Airlangga added that investment in electric vehicles has started to appear in Indonesia by a number of global companies.For example, BYD invested IDR 11.2 trillion with production of 150 million.Then Chery Automobile committed to providing additional investment of IDR 5.2 trillion.
Then, Wuling invested Rp. 9.3 trillion in capital for automotive and Rp. 7.5 trillion in battery factories.
“Vinfast from Vietnam has invested IDR 3.7 trillion, with a capacity of 50 units per year. Hyundai is investing an additional IDR 20 trillion,” said Airlangga.
