Car tires
leaking
Or deflated suddenly in the middle of the road can make panic, especially if you don’t know how to change your own tires. In order not to get caught up in this situation, you must understand how to make a replacement correctly.
Actually, unloading the tires themselves are not that difficult, as long as the car is ready for equipment such as jacks and wheel locks.
The following steps to change the tire correctly:
1. Pull over to the edge and turn on the hazard lights
Once you know the tire leaks or there is a problem, slowly and carefully tease your vehicle. While turn on the hazard lights as a warning sign to other drivers around if there are problems with your car.
2. Prepare equipment
After pulling out and turning off the engine, remove the tools needed to replace tires such as jacks, wheel locks, screwdrivers and spare tires of course.
The equipment is usually already available in the car from the condition is still new, so it’s good to never be revealed.
3. Loosen the bolt
The car tire is locked with a rim bolt you have to relax using a wheel lock.Turn the bolt to the left or the opposite direction of the clock.
Remember, it doesn’t need to be loose until the bolt is loose, just sagging.
This is its function to facilitate the next process, which is to boost and change tires. If the bolt is not loose, it is difficult to open when the wheels have been jacked up and the movement of opening the bolt is still fast dangerous because it makes the car sway.
If the bolt is released there is a risk of falling tires when the wheels are lifted.
4. Car jack
After the bolts are loose, put up a jack on the wheels of the car whose tires want to be replaced.
Make sure you position the jack on a strong structure. To find out the best point, you can see a basin near the wheel.
Make sure the point is perpendicular to the tire, not to tilt. After that lift the tire with a jack until it is lifted.
5. Remove the old tire bolt
The bolts that have been drown can be removed directly at this stage.Store the bolts and make sure not to be scattered so as not to disappear.
Then pull the old tire until it comes out of the wheel house.Put the tires in a sleeping position so as not to roll on the road.
6. Install a spare tire
Take a spare tire then slowly put it in the wheel house while shaken a little to make it easier to enter.
After the spare tire is installed, attach the bolts and make sure the replacement tire is installed correctly, aka not tilted.Tighten the bolt but not too tight.
7. Lower the jack
Then lower the jack slowly and make sure the tire is not tilted.Remove the jack when the tire has touched the ground.
8. Tighten the bolt
If the tire has touched the ground, fasten the bolts again one by one.
You can test the bolt already installed properly or not by kicking the tire. The sign that the bolt is tight is when the tire does not shift when kicked.
9. Save the equipment again
You have successfully changed the old tires that have problems. Finally, clean up all the equipment and store damaged tires in the trunk.
