LG won 12-3 against Lotte at Sajik Stadium in Busan on April 8. The bats came alive, with every starter getting a hit, and the team scored nine runs in the sixth and seventh innings alone. Starter Adam Plutko pitched a six-inning, three-run quality start (6+ innings, 3 earned runs or less-QS). With the win, LG maintained its lead atop the standings with a 49-2 record and is on pace to become the first of the 10 clubs to reach the 50-win plateau. Lotte suffered a setback when Park Se-woong, who had posted a QS in his last eight games, gave up six runs in 5⅔ innings. LG took a 2-0 lead in the top of the first inning when Austin hit a two-run shot over the right field fence with two outs. However, Lotte responded in the next at-bat when Yoon Dong-hee led off with a single and came home on Jeon Jun-woo’s double to left-center field. In the bottom of the inning, Yoo Kang-nam, Park Seung-wook, and Kim Min-seok followed with back-to-back singles to tie the game at 2-2.
The offense continued. In the top of the third, LG regained the lead with Austin’s RBI single with two outs. However, Lotte regained the lead in the bottom of the fourth inning when leadoff hitter Yoo Kang-nam hit a solo shot to left field to tie the game at 3-3.After a brief lull, the game began to tilt in LG’s favor in the top of the sixth inning. In the top of the sixth, Oh Ji-hwan singled and Park Dong-won walked to put runners on first and second with Moon Bo-kyung lacing a single to right to make it 4-3. With runners on first and third, the Lotte bench sent Kim Jin-wook to the mound in place of Park Se-woong, but LG extended its lead to 6-3 when Shin Min-jae doubled to left-center field for his second RBI of the game.In the bottom of the sixth, Noh Jin-hyuk led off with a single to right-center, but Yoo Kang-nam grounded out to third base. LG made it 8-3 in the top of the seventh when Park Dong-won doubled to put runners on first and second with one out after Kim Hyun-soo singled, Austin walked, and Oh Ji-hwan hit a sacrifice bunt. RBI singles by Park Hae-min, Hong Chang-ki, and Son Ho-young followed to complete the six-run inning and put the game out of reach at 12-3. In the eighth inning, both teams rested their starters to prepare for the ninth inning, as the disappointed Lotte fans left early, while the LG fans on the third base side grew louder and louder. With Lotte unable to mount a comeback, LG closed out the game with a nine-run victory.
